At a ceremony to commence the construction of the 12 unit classroom, the Minister who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Sunyani West noted the project forms part of the Middle Belt Development Authority projects in his constituency.
“Almost all major towns in my constituency have a mixed Senior High School with the exception of Fiapre. Upon the request of the His Royal Majesty to establish one for his people, I courted the managers of the GetFund and Middle Belt Authority for this edifice. I’m praying the contractor executes the project within the stipulated duration” he noted.
The school which will be named after the chief of Fiapre Obrempong Prof Kyem Amponsah, is to be completed within four years.
“Within a four year period, both the first phase which is the twelve unit classroom and the second phase an eighteen unit storey building is scheduled to complete within four years. This will lessen the burden of parents whose male wards travel farther for second cycle education” Mr Awuah revealed.
Obrempong Prof Kyem Amponsah on behalf of his people however expressed profound gratitude to the Minister for his effort and kind gesture to them.
“As an educationist, I am really elated for this project. With optimism, I believe this facility will go a long way to augment both government’s and residents’ effort to enroll our children into formal education under the Free Senior High School program” His Majesty noted.
Known in private life as Professor Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa , the Professor of Food Science and Technology who is the current Acting President of the Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) however assured the contractor, Johnson Kwaku Yeboah the unflinching support of the good people of Fiapre to fast track the completion of the project.
“I want to assure the contractor of our support to help in the timely completion of the project. As a Civic responsibility, we will help police the project to ensure a good work is done”Obrempong hinted.
This school project is one of the numerous projects by the MP in Fiapre notable among them is the Fiapre community stadium.
