NPP Decides: Aspirant beaten for stealing electoral album

“Since 1992, we have used a democratic means to choose our parliamentary candidate. Even, Dr Yao Mensah who is the board chairman of the Nurses Council had to give in to Mr Agyeman Manu during the last election as he went unopposed. This time around, they should be given a fair playing grounds to contest in the primaries else peace won’t reign here” Mr Boakye observed.

Mr Boakye who is a delegate for Amasu Adumasa electoral area noted, there are already existing internal wrangling in the party of which he will shelf hence, the NEC and regional executives of the party need to thread cautiously to avoid further divisions.

“There are serious looming problems in the party, but for fellow feeling we have sidelined them for the sake of peace , unity and power. I will therefore caution the leadership of the party not to tamper with the due process in selecting of parliamentary candidate. If he (Hon Agyeman Manu) deserves another term, his works will win him that not any other manipulations” he asserted.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) suspended its parliamentary primaries which was originally scheduled for April 25, 2020, to elect parliamentary candidates in constituencies where the party has sitting Members of Parliament ahead of the 2020 General Elections.
The decision to suspend the primaries was taken a National Steering Committee meeting held on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, due to the ban on social gatherings as part of national efforts towards the containment of the Covid-19 epidemic.
“The National Steering Committee, by reason of Article 10(10)(1) of the party’s constitution, is the body responsible for overseeing the daily management of the party, and thus, mandated to ‘act on behalf of the party on urgent matters’ such as in the circumstances we find ourselves as a party and nation owing to the Covid-19 pandemic,” according to a release by the party’s General Secretary, John Boadu.
