Speaking on Good Morning Moonlite, on Tuesday 11th October, Mr Jonathan Okyere (Governance Espert) said “There is a huge failure in Leadership”.  This was to answer the question from Mr Kwame Agyarko (the Host), “What at all can save Ghana from this economic hardship”? . Mr Okyere explained his claim that, we elect leaders to enact laws that will safeguard the people not otherwise.  “The laws we have do not protect the people”. He said this government is not performing well at all and he believes that the Akuffo Addo led administration has rather made Former President Mahama a Saint.

Talking about Galamsey, he mentioned that, even our Justice system is so focused on imprisoning people. To him, it’s not every crime that needs imprisonment and that people must pay for the damages(degraded lands and forest) they have caused , not necessarily putting them behind bars.

Talking about corruption, he said “Corruption is the number one enemy of this country”.  Mr Okyere believes that, virtually every negative impacts we have in the economy today is credited to corruption. He suggested that, truly all these are happening because of indiscipline, so the best solution to our woes is discipline and it must start from the government.
